DRIVERS
CPC
for professional LGV and PCV drivers
From the 10th
September 2008 a new legislative directive came into force
with the aim to improve the skills and knowledge of all
PCV and LGV drivers throughout their working lives. The
Directive comes in 2 formats:
Initial
Driver CPC
Initial qualification for new bus and truck drivers
From the 10th September 2008
All new bus (PCV) drivers will have to gain this qualification.
Licence categories are: D1, D
From the 10th September 2008
All new truck (LGV) drivers will have to gain this qualification.
Licence categories are: C1, C
Periodic
Driver CPC
Periodic training for current LGV and PCV licence
holders
From the 10th September 2008
All bus (PCV) drivers will have to gain this qualification
by completing 35 hours of training
(5 days) before Sept 2013.
Licence categories are: D1, D1+E, D, D+E
From the 10th September 2008
All truck (LGV) drivers will have to gain this qualification
by completing 35 hours of training
(5 days) before Sept 2014.
Licence categories are: C1, C1+E, C, C+E

To become a driver and successfully
gain the DRIVER CPC a new driver must pass the following 4
modules:
|
Current
bus and truck drivers will need to do 5 days training every
5 years covering the following topics: |

1. Theory and Hazard Awareness test (Module 1).
2. Case study questions and answers (Module 2).
3. Practical Driving Test (Module 3).
4. Practical Demonstration Test (Module 4). |
